Social Impact
Worldplay is dedicated to the development of social programs as much as we are to technological innovation.Investing in our community
We understand the importance of investing in our community, which is why Worldplay encourages our employees to give back via charitable initiatives.
Working with Indigenous Communities
Indigenous Land Acknowledgement
Worldplay, situated on Treaty 7 territory, acknowledges and appreciates the Indigenous land on which our company operates. Moreover, we are dedicated to Truth and Reconciliation efforts as we consciously work alongside Indigenous communities to understand and preserve their rich histories, culture, and language.
Worldplay is dedicated to working alongside Indigenous communities to further our own understandings, and assist in the promotion of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives. Some of our ongoing commitments include:
- Becoming a proud ‘Business Member’ of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
- Offering technologies and services to assist Indigenous communities with their cross-cultural awareness training, community knowledge sharing, and language revitalization initiatives.
- Partnering with TELUS to build virtual connectivity and communication to a number of Indigenous communities in Canada.
Powering local initiatives
Worldplay has also happily supported ScotDance Canada as the organization hosted videos of their cultural dance routines to help raise $50,000 for the Children’s Help Line and Food Banks Canada.
Health & wellbeing
Worldplay’s team members participated in the Movember campaign to raise awareness and donations for men’s mental & physical health.
Working together
This December, Worldplay raised funds for a charity in need by pledging $1 for every kilometer walked or run leading up to Christmas. This year, our active team is pledging funds raised of $1,000 to Indigenous Residential School Survivors.
Social housing initiative
Worldplay is helping the B.C. social housing sector by providing an online media center consisting of financial literacy and virtual learning tools to educate tenants of social housing communities.
Helping our community
Worldplay has partnered with various non-profit and charitable organizations with diverse, albeit equally worthy, causes to improve the lives of Calgarians in need. Our team has worked alongside the Calgary Food Bank to provide nourishment to those facing food insecurities, Ten Thousand Villages to support the fair-trade craftsmanship of low income artisans from Asia, Africa, Latin America & the Middle East, and the Women In Need Society (WINS) Thrift Stores to provide women with a low cost shopping alternative.
Supporting international causes
Our team has also participated in many other community impact initiatives, including Operation Christmas Child, where we assembled shoeboxes with toys, clothes, daily essentials and other items for less fortunate children around the world.
TELUS has partnered with Worldplay to provide Canadian businesses and consumers with the Vidflex™ video technology to connect virtually and build digital communities.
